ARTIST STATEMENT

My work explores ideas of the fragility of our lives specifically through the vehicle of handmade paper and artists' books. My work often incorporates issues dealing with fragility/strength, inner/outer boundaries, presence/absence and the understanding of our memories. The slow and methodical process of both handmade papermaking and bookbinding creates connections in my work both physically and metaphorically. My work strives to create an understanding that we are all connected to one another through stories, experiences, history and

through life itself.

 The Artists' Books I create integrate storytelling with unique and diverse book structures to convey the narratives within. Books are a powerful vessel and a form of communication that allows and showcases different perspectives, inspiration, critical thinking and connectedness.
